A sad day of indifference, for sure.

Award-winning pornstar, recent auteur and occasional indie actress Sasha Grey has written a special message to her fans, heard/read straight from AVN, the industry rag that named her Female Performer of the Year in 2008 (and Best Anal two years later).

Grey became relatively well known in the non-porn world for her role as Vince's girlfriend in HBO's “Entourage” and causing a bit of a stir after being cast as the lead in Steven Soderbergh's “The Girlfriend Experience.”

Rolling Stone magazine even devoted a full spread (pun intended) to “The Dirtiest Girl in the World” in 2009 much to everyone's confused delight.

She even reads, damn it.

She even reads, damn it.

Now Grey released her first book, Neü Sex, just last week and after enjoying the high of another mainstream crossover, she decided to put quill to parchment to write down her future goals and how the adult industry (at least the fucking part) doesn't quite fit into the “Neü” equation.

“I've always tried to be as open and honest with my fans (and onlookers) as much as possible. With the way social media has progressed, a lot of personalization has been lost. The purpose of this is to address the elephant in the room, and to thank all of you.

It's become quite evident that my time as an adult film performer has expired. Don't worry, I haven't found Jesus. One thing is for certain, I'm proud to say I have no regrets, I genuinely feel I accomplished everything I could as a performer. I was able to work with the industry's most professional performers and companies, and I'll always cherish the friends and relationships I was able to build. It was simply the perfect time for me to move on … while I was on top (pun indeed, intended). Life sometimes takes us in a direction we never could have imagined.”

Grey then proceeds to thank a bunch of people and gush a bit more about her book and how it shares with the reader/voyeur (there are a LOT of photographs in there) her “visual mosaic through photography, my sexual philosophy, and observations.”

Congrats to a young woman who might be the most successful crossover pornstar in the last decade – success for doing more than coming out with a sex toy or lingerie line and playing line-less roles as Stripper #4 in Nickelback music videos.

And we hope the good work keeps coming, but as everyone knows there always will be open arms in porn valley should Grey desire (or need) to return. A chick with a full bush and a fetish for anal always is welcome for a comeback.
