Male Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Accident near Commercial Street

SAN DIEGO, CA (January 7, 2022) – Monday morning, Brandon Anthony Vasaturo was arrested after a pedestrian collision on Franklin Avenue.

According to the authorities, the accident occurred around 3:00 a.m., in the area of Logan Heights. Dispatchers arrived to the 2000 block of Franklin Avenue shortly after.

Upon arrival, officers found a man lying on the ground with head trauma and performed CPR. Although, the events leading up to the collision remain unclear.

Paramedics rushed the man in his 60s to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Acting on a tip, traffic-accident investigators located the parked vehicle about a block away from the scene. 33-year-old Brandon Anthony Vasaturo was booked into county jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.

At this time, San Diego Officials are working to identify further circumstances surrounding the Logan Heights crash.
