According to the police, the incident happened around 7:35 a.m., at the 15500 block of West Nordhoff Street. Dispatchers arrived near Langdon Avenue shortly after.

Investigators determined that a Honda HR-V and gray Toyota Camry collided with each other. The impact sent the Honda over a curb where it struck an adult female and a 1-and-a -half-year-old boy walking along the sidewalk.

Afterwards, medical personnel transported the young boy to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, the woman, identified as the grandmother, was transported to a hospital in serious condition.

The Honda driver remained at the scene but the Toyota driver fled the area before authorities arrived. However, the hit-and-run driver later met with the officers at the LAPD Valley Traffic Station on Sunday.
