Last week the Franklin Avenue blog conducted a highly scientific poll of its readers, asking the discriminating electorate to choose its favorite among Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's TV-news girl friends. The known choices were, admittedly, only Telemundo/KVEA's Mirthala Salinas and KTLA's Lu Parker. A wild card, however, was thrown into the mix as six voters wrote in such fantasy paramours as Sharon Tay and Huell Howser.

Today, though, the people have spoken, and results show Salinas winning in a landslide — practically the only recent L.A. election that hasn't needed to be decided in a runoff.
