In a town with limited after-hours dining choices, Bossa Nova on Sunset Boulevard is a rare independent eatery with good food and chill vibes. And it stays open until 4 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.

It's sad to report that things apparently got out of hand Sunday, and it was no fault of the restaurant's: Two people were shot and wounded, police say.

It happened about 4 a.m. at Sunset Boulevard and Formosa Avenue in Hollywood, LAPD Officer Cleon Joseph told the Weekly.

Two adults were shot and then hospitalized in unknown conditions, he said. City News Service reported that a man shot in the chest was in serious condition while another shot in his side was stable.

The violence reportedly unfolded in front of the eatery. Responding police shut down Sunset Boulevard for four hours as they investigated, but the shooter was still on the loose.

It's unclear what set off the attack, but KTLA News reported that a fight preceded the shooting.

No suspect descriptions were available.
