Since last week, Blair's on Rowena is giving customers extra reasons to drink more cheaply — and/or perhaps better — than they might otherwise. The Silver Lake restaurant is waiving corkage fees and offering half-off of all bottled beer and bottles of wines. (Regular wines-by-the-glass prices remain.)

DrinkEatPlay's L.A. Sake Festival happens this Saturday, August 15, from 8-11:00 p.m. at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel. The 100+ sakes available for sampling and educational opportunities sound terrific, but desert gambling city-phobes, be warned; the event promises to be a “hybrid of Las Vegas vibe and the largest sake tasting in Southern California.” Not enough sake will wash that away — or maybe that's precisely the idea. ($50 per person, tickets here.)

Pizzeria Mozza Wine Director/Sommelier Chris Miller leads a new Italian wine series called “A Taste of Summer” in the Jack Warner private dining room on Sunday, August 23 at 4:00 p.m. The invite promises a “a refreshing palate with fragrant whites, luscious pinks and frothing reds” during the tasting, which includes a few antipasti. But if you want a proper meal, best make plans following the seminar. Space is super limited. ($37 per person, exclusive of tax; RSVP to Kate Green at (323) 866-5300 or Chris Miller cmiller@mozza-la.com.)

Pizzeria Mozza: 641 N. Highland Ave., Los Angeles, (323) 297-0101.
