More an underground soul-shaker than a boisterous banger, the party known as Boombox nonetheless brings the noise every month. Celebrating two years of bootyful beats and bounteous breaks, the club has some big guns for this party, including Detroit producer/decksmith Waajeed (half of the Platinum Pied Pipers and head of bling47.com, a revered online rap purveyor) and body-rockin’ energizer DJ Revolution a.k.a “King of the Decks” (also the title of his latest release). He’s best known for his syndicated hip-hop radio program, The Wake Up Show. Rounding out the turbo-talent is Maryland MC Kev Brown (Low Budget), who’s hosting. There’s live jazz in the lounge, plus the ’Box’s formidable resident turntablists the Soul Scienz crew: Inka One, Ben Diggin, Rob C, and One Man Jazz. Grand Star, 943 N. Broadway, Chinatown; Sat., Dec. 6; $5 before 10:30 p.m. with RSVP @ going.com/boomboxnov; $10 after; www.myspace.com/boomboxlosangeles. Speaking of anniversaries, can’t let Create: Fixate’s Lucky 7 soiree pass without a shout-out, as the art and music gathering never fails to showcase amazing DJs. For its seven-year itch, the “Audio Lab” will feature house, techno, downtempo, breaks, dub and experimental rhythms, along with live music from some of the most innovative artists/sound producers in town. Premier Events Center, 613 Imperial St., dwntwn; Sat., Dec. 6. See www.createfixate.com.
