For the last month, Bon Appétit has been holding a virtual baking contest. The Bon Appétit Blog Envy Bake-Off was a baking contest for food bloggers, in which anyone with a blog baked a favorite holiday dessert, posted the recipe on their blog, and submitted a picture of the dessert to the magazine. Well, the votes are in and Appétit has just announced the 5 finalists.
Bon Appétit's test kitchen will bake the top scoring dessert in each category and select an overall winner. The winner of this “reader's choice” will receive a trip for two to New York City and dinner with Bon Appétit Editor-in-Chief Barbara Fairchild and Restaurant Editor Andrew Knowlton. You can vote on the 5 finalists here. (Correction: voting is now closed.) Can you do a drumroll with a pastry bag? I don't know, it sounds kind of messy. But here they are, after the jump:
Cake:
