Update: The area was deemed safe at 12:50 p.m., police tell us.

An LAPD bomb squad was checking out a pickup truck parked in front of the Kodak Theater near Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue in Hollywood today.

Suspicions about the truck, which apparently has barrels in its bed and was stopped in a no-parking zone, arose about 11:30 a.m., LAPD Officer Richard French told the Weekly.

All this is happening, of course, only two days after the 10th anniversary of 9/11, when anti-terror efforts were stepped up in New York and L.A. But, French says …

… there are no threats associated with the truck.

KNX 1070 Newsradio tweeted that no evacuations were ordered.

Metro reported that bus-line delays in the area should be expected for lines 212, 217, 222 and that the Red Line is bypassing the Hollywood/Highland stop as a precaution.
