The body of Monica Beresford-Redman was headed for LAX from Cancun, Mexico Wednesday as Mexican authorities continued to keep her husband, sometime Survivor producer Bruce Beresford-Redman, under suspicion for her strangulation death, TMZ reports.

Her family requested the body be flown back to the U.S. so they could commission tests regarding the cause of death. We contacted a prominent private autopsy examiner to find out if he would take a look at the body, but he had not returned our call.

Monica Beresford-Redman was the owner of Palms eatery Zabumba and, as such, was a fixture in L.A.'s Brazilian community. Candle-light vigils have been held in her honor there.

Her body was found earlier this month near the Cancun hotel where she was staying with her husband and their two boys. Mexican authorities said she appeared to have been strangled. Bruce Beresford-Redman was arrested but then released on the condition he not leave Mexico.

Reports indicate he was having an affair and that she had confronted him about it. Witnesses reported the couple was fighting the night before Bruce Beresford-Redman reported her missing.
