Inland Empire authorities searching for 17-year-old Norma Lopez confirmed Wednesday afternoon that a body found late Tuesday in Moreno Valley, not far from where the girl was last seen, is that of the missing teen. Some of her personal items were found in the area as well.

The discovery was made in a field the teenager used as a shortcut, according to Associated Press. Something about the items that were found suggested to authorities that a struggle took place, AP reported. Authorities Wednesday afternoon were looking for a green SUV seen in the area at the time of her disappearance.

The girl vanished Thursday after attending summer school. The field where the body was found was apparently used as a shortcut by Lopez and other students who attended summer classes.
