Canadian electronic duo Bob Moses perform at the L.A. State Historic Park on October 5, and they just dropped a new remix album, Battle Lines [Remixed], so we chatted with Tom Howie about it all…

L.A. WEEKLY: Battle Lines [Remixed] just dropped — are you pleased with the way it turned out?

TOM HOWIE: Super pleased! It’s so cool to hear artists that you love and look up to interpret your work. A really cool experience for us and we are super happy with how all the remixes came out. Very honored that all the artists said yes and made such great reinterpretations.

Do you enjoy the process of allowing other artists to remix your work?

Very much so. It’s refreshing and inspiring. It also informs our own creative process because it’s interesting to hear how other producers interpret, organize and shine a light on certain melodies and sounds that inspired us enough to put them into the original.

Do you have a favorite on the album?

Of course not! 😉 Each has their own vibe and place. We will say though, that Cassian’s remix, Jamie Jones’ remix and Hayden James’ remix work great in our DJ sets, so that’s always nice.

What can we expect from the L.A. set?

The hits! Haha. We’re going to be playing with our band and we’ve got a pretty strong festival set that we’ve been tweaking. We’ve built some special transitions between songs, blending them together. It’s going to be fun!

When this tour is done, what’s next for you two?

Doing laundry! No, but in all seriousness, we’re working on new music on the road, but after this tour, we’ll be announcing some new things and also fleshing out some of the ideas we’ve been collecting in the studio.

Bob Moses play with Rufus du Sol at 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 5 at LA State Historic Park.
