The Black Lives Matter Los Angeles organization will be hosting a caravan and march as part of a Juneteenth celebration, Friday.

The Baldwin Hills rally plans to focus on “re-imagining public safety,” as well as holding a tribute to Grechario Mack, who was shot and killed by LAPD in April, 2018.

The Crenshaw Subway Coalition will also be partnering with BLM as they rally around a focus to buy the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Mall, just as CIM Group real estate backed out of acquiring the mall Monday, saying in an Instagram post, “CIM has concluded that the community, the mall and CIM are best served by us stepping aside.”

The 2 p.m. march and caravan will begin on Martin Luther King Boulevard and Obama Boulevard in Baldwin Hills.

Downtown Los Angeles also held a Juneteenth march at 10 a.m., starting at Flower and Washington and ending at Grand Park.

From noon to 2 p.m. Inglewood will hold a Juneteenth parade starting at the Forum and ending in Leimert Park, where a “Pray for the Hood,” event will be taking place.

According to ACLU, “Juneteenth” is a holiday that commemorates June 19, 1865, the day African Americans in Texas were told the Civil War ended and they were emancipated.
