In addition to the Wolfgang Tillmans retrospective at the Hammer, photography exhibitions have opened at LACMA and the Norton Simon, and another opens next week at the Getty Center. At LACMA, “Masquerade: Role Playing in Self-Portraiture” focuses on the work of Cindy Sherman, Yasumasa Morimura, Pierre Molinier and several others from the permanent-collection gift of Audrey and Sydney Irmas. Also, longtime Weekly contributor Anne Fishbein’s portraits of life in Russia are featured in “Long Exposures: Contemporary Photo-Essays from the Permanent Collection.” Other photographers in the show are Vincent Cianni, Andrew Freeman, Sant Khalsa, Nic Nicosia and Simon Norfolk. Both through January 7.

The Norton Simon presents “The Collectible Moment,” 145 works in the permanent collection by such historical and modern photographers as Ansel Adams, Diane Arbus, Lewis Baltz, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Imogen Cunningham, Robert Heinecken, Frederick Sommer, Edmund Teske, Anthony Hernandez and Edward Weston. Through February 26.

On the 24th, the Getty opens its new Center for Photographs with some 165 prints from the nearly 500 recent American photographs donated by Bruce and Nancy Berman. “Where We Live: Photographs of America” includes the mostly color, mostly large-format work of John Divola, William Eggleston, Mitch Epstein, Joel Sternfeld and George Tice, among others. Through February 25.
