One Bicycle Rider Killed in Deadly Accident on Tuers Road

SAN JOSE, CA (May 5, 2022) – Sunday evening, a bicyclist was pronounced dead after a fatal collision on Capitol Expressway.

Officers responded to the scene around 9:12 p.m., near Tuers Road after receiving multiple dispatch calls in the area.

As per the initial investigation, the driver of a westbound 2007 Nissan sedan struck the cyclist on Capitol Expressway in the No. 2 lane. Officials also added that the rider attempted to cross lanes of traffic in the southbound direction.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the Nissan driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

The California Highway Patrol is withholding the victim’s name until their family is notified.

At this time, an active investigation to determine further details is still currently underway.
