Bite Bar in Santa Monica has closed, as of yesterday — though chef Elizabeth Goel plans to revamp the concept and introduce “a new format” i.e. catering and special events.

The small restaurant and bakery, which opened in March of 2010, was known for its baked goods (especially the croissants) as well as Goel's seasonal, market-driven menu.

Customers received an email last night (also posted on Bite Bar's Facebook page) telling them: “Bite Bar & Bakery will be closed as of Monday, December 20th for the winter holidays. However, when we return in the New Year we will be introducing a new format for the space. In short, our days as a restaurant have come to a pause and we will be refocusing on special events, event planning, private events, classes and custom catering.”

More details to come.
