Funko isn’t just a toy brand, it’s a phenomenon, at least with the fandom and collector crowd. Known for its cute “Pop” vinyl figures portraying iconic characters from film, TV, sports and music, the brand has attracted long lines to get in to its L.A. flagship Hollywood Blvd. store since it opened in 2019 (though COVID put a damper on that last year). With no in-person Comic-Con SD event to show off is latest exclusives, the brand , created its own “convention” of sorts this year. This week’s FunKon, is a part virtual /part in-person event and party featuring Pop figure exclusives (“pop drops”) and more all this week.

Here’s a look at Monday’s press day with an appearance by actor Joe Manganiello) and the night’s highlight event, a fashion show with accessories and apparel brand Loungefly (acquired by Funko in 2017), debuting new items from the brand’s Disney collaboration, which featured a special appearance by Anika Noni Rose (the voice of Tiana from Princess and the Frog).
