A series of hit-and-run crimes on bicyclists have L.A. bike activists fuming this spring. The community was buzzing about a near-death hit-and-run in Griffith Park last month. Now there's this:

Last weekend an 18-year-old Van Nuys rider was hit by a car near at Oxnard Street and Bellaire Avenue in Valley Village about 6:30 p.m., police say.

The victim sustained “major injuries” in the Sunday crash and was taken to Holy Cross Medical Center, according to an LAPD statement.

The suspect was driving west on Oxnard, cops said.

They're looking for an older Mercedes ML SUV that's silver, according to the LAPD. The only description for the motorist was that he was an “older male,” cops said.
