Hit-and-Run Crash near South Perry Lane Left One Dead

TEMPE, AZ (August 31, 2022) – Thursday evening, a bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash near East University Drive.

The incident happened on August 25th, at around 9:45 p.m., involving a bicyclist and a dark-colored 1999-2002 Toyota 4Runner.

According to initial reports, the bicyclist was struck near the intersection of University Drive and South Perry Lane. The impact of the collision left her critically injured.

Emergency crews arrived at the site of the crash shortly after and transported the woman to a nearby hospital. Despite medic’s life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police say the vehicle that struck the bicyclist fled the scene and the vehicle was believed to have passenger side front bumper damages.

At this time, the identity of the victim was not yet released, pending the notification of next of kin. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
