Balboa Park Bicycle Accident Results in Fatality
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 23, 2021) – Tuesday morning, a fatal collision on Pershing Drive claimed the life of a bicyclist in Balboa Park.
Officers responded to the crash around 7:30 a.m., on Pershing Drive near Florida Drive, according to Officer Scott Lockwood.
Upon arrival, responders located the unresponsive bicyclist and transported him to an area hospital. However, the victim later succumbed to their injuries.
Meanwhile, the involved driver remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigation. At this time, the identities of the deceased bicyclist and the driver remain unavailable.
In addition, the surrounding area on Pershing Drive was closed for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. But, the road has since reopened.
The San Diego Officials are working to identify the reasons behind the Balboa Park bicycle-auto collision.
