Traffic Crash near East Fifth Street Left One Seriously Hurt

NATIONAL CITY, CA (July 28, 2022) – Monday evening, a vehicle collision on R Avenue left a bicyclist with serious injuries.

The incident happened shortly after 6:30 p.m. on R Avenue near East Fifth Street.

According to reports, the bicyclist was riding down a residential street when he was struck by a vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet at the time.

Paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported and found a man lying on the sidewalk. Medics rendered first aid at the scene and then rushed the rider to a local hospital.

Meanwhile, the involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

Authorities said neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the incident.
