26-Year-Old Killed in Vehicle Collision near Pico Avenue

SAN MARCOS, CA (April 1, 2022) – Wednesday evening, a traffic accident on West Mission Road left one bicyclist dead, police said.

The crash happened around 8:00 p.m. at West Mission Road from Pico Avenue.

Furthermore, police said a 63-year-old male driver of an ice cream was turning on West Mission Road.

Consequently, the vehicle hit a bicyclist.

Moreover, some witnesses on the scene said the bicyclist riding southwest across the intersection ran a red light while the truck turned on a green light.

Eventually, the 26-year-old bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene while the truck driver was left unharmed.

Officers said that alcohol in addition to the bicyclist not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, were factors leading to the collision.
