36-Year-Old Bicyclist Fatally Struck in Collision near McGowan Parkway

OLIVEHURST, CA (March 31, 2022) – Sunday night, Kaitlyn Vansant was arrested after a bicycle DUI crash on George Avenue.

The fatal collision occurred around 9:30 p.m., on March 27. Emergency crews arrived to the scene just south of McGowan Parkway.

Per reports, 21-year-old Vansant was driving a 2019 Ford Fusion and struck the rear of a southbound bicyclist on the right shoulder of the road. The bicycle rider was later described as a 36-year-old Olivehurst man.

Paramedics arrived and transported the severely injured rider to Adventist Health and Rideout Hospital in Marysville. Due to the extent of his condition, medics pronounced the rider dead at the hosptial.

Meanwhile, police arrested Kaitlyn Vansant on suspicion of second-degree murder and driving under the influence. No further details regarding the crash are public at this time.
