Beverly Park is a gated community along the ridge line above Beverly Hills. It has been home to many a celebrity (Barry Bonds, Camille Grammer, Wayne Gretzky) and features $20 million-plus properties.

It's also a place where a terrible golf-cart accident happened yesterday:

A 10-year-old boy was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he remained in grave condition following the accident, according to Brian Humphrey of the L.A. Fire Department.

The boy was in the cart with two men and two other boys when it overturned near 57 Beverly Park, he said. The LAFD got the call at 2:36 p.m.

(Beverly Park is in the city of L.A. despite sharing its 90210 zip code with a neighboring portion of Beverly Hills).

The other passengers were taken to a hospital to be assessed, Humphrey said.

Television news reports indicated the cart might have been souped-up.

[Update at 11 a.m.]: The boy died. He was identified as by the coroner's office as Mark Martinez of Van Nuys.
