As is the custom for Valley businesses, Black Dog Yoga is found on the second floor of a strip mall near a frozen-yogurt shop. About 40 instructors, 90 weekly classes, retreats and teacher training are offered at this huge, 7,000-square-foot yoga haven whose four main rooms are washed in spare, spiritual deep blue, vivid pink or burnt orange Buddhist-influenced interiors and glowing hardwood floors. The Sherman Oaks studio offers an impressively robust schedule — starting as early as 6 a.m. and as late as 8:30 p.m. — and a wide range of classes, which tend to mix flow, flexibility and strength building. 4454 Van Nuys Blvd., Ste. 206, Sherman Oaks, 91403.
