Oh sure, there are times when you want a cute coed in a schoolgirl kilt to bring you Jell-O shots. And there are times you don't mind being groped by lunkish frat boys while elbowing in to order your Jäger. (Or is that just us?) But for those times when someone proposes meeting for a drink in Westwood and you're thinking, “Oh God, not a college bar,” we recommend the Glendon. A stylish restaurant by day, by night the Glendon turns downright sophisticated, its handsome copper bar lined with good-looking grad students and 30-something professionals, noshing on small plates (and large ones) to a vaguely clubby soundtrack. There are a few couches for lounging, a little loft for people-watching, and a very nice drink menu with wine glasses helpfully sorted by price point (first date, second date and third date, natch). Plus, there are a half-dozen “Skinny” options on the cocktail list, made with agave nectar instead of simple syrup. Ah, yes, calorie counting — yet more proof that this is a bar for adults. 1071 Glendon Ave., Wstwd. (310) 208-2023, glendonla.com.
