It's like voyeuristically living in the best neighborhood in Los Angeles to stay overnight at “luxury” B&B Tuscali Mountain Inn. Innkeepers Teresa and Bruce Royer opened the inn in 2008 on three acres next to Topanga State Park, in rolling foothills above Woodland Hills. Not the least bit quaint, this is a high-end experience (room rates are $245 to $295), with all-inclusive packages such as the Gourmet Cycling Weekend — $880 per person double occupancy — in which your group zips along winding roads in the Santa Monica Mountains accompanied by a Tuscali Mountain Inn “supply” car and pampered with gourmet meals. You've stayed in funky, urban bed-and-breakfasts in San Francisco or Albuquerque where you don't sleep right thanks to the “highly authentic” street traffic. But the only sounds here are songbirds or the occasional mournful cries of coyotes. Though isolated, it's only a few minutes to excellent canyon restaurants Froggie's, Inn of the Seventh Ray and the Canyon Bistro. 1224 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd., Topanga.
