Stuck in an inland office during the week, longing for a beach haven — and the bums (and non-bums) who hang out there? Some of my girlfriends and I like to head out on a Saturday morning to the Hermosa Beach Pier and Patrick Molloy’s, where the hot-bodied clientele will take you back to Spring Break, even in January. Well, almost. On weekends before noon, the Irish pub serves up unlimited mimosas for one hour (with the purchase of a solid brunch, as necessary) or, if you choose not to bother with food, $3 mimosas until 2 p.m. The drinks are more about quantity than quality — we did say pub, right? — but after knocking back a few, who really remembers? Get there early on big game days to avoid the sports fanatics, and don’t be afraid to get friendly with your easy-on-the-eyes bar fellows. We like to fully lubricate ourselves not just with mimosas but loads of sunscreen and sit outside for a front-row view of the beefcakes and bikini babes. After you’re fully tanked, strip down to your swimwear, head to the sand and give a few winks to the volleyball players. It just might make one more week at the office workable.
