It's a tale as old as time. You and your kids need to be in three different places, freeways apart, and there's just one of you and no time machine. HopSkipDrive is a ridesharing service for children ages 7 through 18. Yes, it's like Uber for minors. But that description doesn't do it justice. “When you're working with kids, there needs to be a whole other level of specification,” says Leila Pirnia, director of marketing. For one thing, unlike Uber or Lyft, HSD is properly insured to drive children under 18. Launched by three busy moms with even busier kids, HSD addresses parents' every concern and takes security measures so thorough the U.S. Secret Service would blush in shame. To name a few, drivers must pass a 15-point certification process, go through a background check every month and have at least five years of child care experience. And if that doesn't give you enough peace of mind, there's an app that shows the rides in real time.
