It’s just a room. A little nook in Atwater Village with a scratched-up wooden floor, a stereo, one big mirror and some cubbies to hold your gym bag. But there’s a whole lot going on within the four walls of Heartbeat House. In its simplest form, it’s a place to work out, even if the workouts themselves are anything but simple. Beyond your basic cardio jazz, Heartbeat House offers dance-inspired classes such as Rock ’n’ Soul Pilates, African Dance, Latin Jam, Cabaret Cardio, Bollywood Aerobics and Samba Passion. The names alone are enough to get your pulse up. Heartbeat House also offers two unique music classes for children: Scruffin Rock, in which toddlers learn music theory through rock ’n’ roll, and World Citizen Toddler, in which they sing and dance to songs from around the globe. For seniors, there’s Still Moving, a class for those 60 and older (Get on with your bad self!), while for those seeking a little relaxation, there’s Candlelight Community Yoga on Sunday nights. 3141 Glendale Blvd., Atwater Village.
