If mornings become eclectic on KCRW, then Mondays from midnight to 3 a.m. become downright esoteric. That's when Eric J. Lawrence, the station's music librarian, combines that rich resource with his own musical sense and knowledge for a weekly, well-curated playlist that runs the gamut. Each show is a casual journey spanning the decades, an aural landscape where French crooner Charles Aznavour can sit alongside James Brown, the '80s synth-pop of Blancmange or the latest by Heartless Bastards. Lawrence pays tribute to recent passings from the rock and pop worlds and also does an occasional themed set of songs or themed show, including an annual July show featuring music from 30 years earlier. Not a night owl? That's what listening on-demand is for; Lawrence's most recent show is available for a week at KCRW.com.

KCRW 89.9 FM, Mondays, midnight to 3 a.m. (310) 450-5183, kcrw.com.
