Tara Riceberg, the owner of Tweak, believes in engaging. That's why, in her shop, much of the merchandise for kids is at kid level, and they're encouraged to explore and interact. There is a table where little ones can play and draw, plus an air hockey table. Riceberg brings her personal history in high-end styling to bear as well: All items are pre-wrapped, with an external layer of cellophane to protect “closet gifts,” as she puts it. Everything she stocks is “purposeful” — whether for kids or adults — and she sources only from small companies or from big ones with happy employees. Tweak is pet-friendly, too — Riceberg plans to launch a “pup crawl” next summer along her stretch of Beverly Boulevard. The store's URL, BestGiftStoreEver.com, came about by accident, she says, but it's pretty accurate. 8384 Beverly Blvd., Beverly Grove. (323) 653-6531, bestgiftstoreever.com. —Lisa Horowitz
