Wedged between a pizza shop and a clothing boutique on Sunset Boulevard is Origami Vinyl, a little record store with a big heart. The high walls are lined with wine crates stacked with new and used vinyl, chosen lovingly by the staff. You can ask them about pretty much anything that's packed in that tiny room and they'll give you an oral history of the artist. It's the kind of shop that wants to expose you to new things almost as much as it wants to sell you records. Almost every day, Origami hosts free concerts in the loft above the shop, and on Tuesdays the owners hold a record-club night at the bar El Prado, where customers play their own tunes. Drop by if you're looking for a long-lost LP, or just hang out and listen to something new. 1816 W. Sunset Blvd., Echo Park. (213) 413-3030, origamiorigami.com.
