Sugoi Life is part Japanese pop-culture emporium, part arcade. You might come here looking for a Ghost in the Shell collectible, but you’ll probably end up messing around in the photo booths, trying to win a Neon Genesis Evangelion action figure with the UFO Catcher, and challenging friends to a game of Dance Dance Revolution. The shop has a nice mix of imported items. Anime and manga-related merchandise dominate the floor, but you’ll also find a good selection of cute Japanese stationary characters (the Northridge shop had some cool Little Twin Stars items last time we visited), vinyl toys and household goods. The stores occasionally host events as well: Earlier this year, Japanese rock star Miyavi stopped by for an in-store performance at the Northridge location.
