Whatever the latest trend, it will be on view at a car show — along with the “car show girl.” hired by shops or clubs as eye candy to draw attention, the girls add to a whirlwind carnival atmosphere out of a Fellini film. Some show up half-dressed to enter the ceremonial ass-shaking contest; others come simply to get the attention of gearheads who sometimes act as if they’ve never seen a woman before. Regardless of their motives, these girls are unsung heroes of an L.A. subculture built for speed, sex and style.
