January shows no sign of a new year's slump, with a flashbacky tribute, a sound and science–driven salon, a youthful banger, a fetishy fanger, and more to look forward to. Read on and mark your calendars. 

Saturday, Jan. 9
“GOT80's?” SIOUXSIE NIGHT
Celebrating 40 years since bewitching post-punk princess Siouxsie Sioux and her band the Banshees formed, the dance night got80's?  offers an eve of spellbound revelry and sonic dazzle. It’s a release party for a forthcoming box set as well, and will feature a special live performance by LA-based Siouxsie tribute The Happy Haus. DJs Eser, Hi-C, Perversive and Edward Transylvania spin dark wave, '80s, new wave, glam, punk and goth tunes that inspired the woman in black and Angelenos with a taste for the dark side on the dance floor. Giveaways, photo booth, videos, and more. (And by the way, if you've never been to Spike's, don't let the far-seeming locale scare you away; Rosemead is about eight minutes from downtown by freeway… way quicker than the Sunset Strip!) 9:30 p.m.-2 a.m. At Spike's, 7813 Garvey Ave., Rosemead. 21+. $8 before 11 p.m., $10 after. More info.

BANJEE BALL 
Partnering with the Los Angeles LGBT Center, Banjee Ball brings vogueing realness to Silver Lake next week. The art of vogue-ing goes way beyond Madonna, or even the doc Paris Is Burning, these days. These LA events incorporate dance, lip-synching and catwalk stomping for a flamboyant form of performance art. The “mini ball” is part fashion show, part dance club and part theatre. Started by indie dance duo Purple Crush, Banjee Ball is a spectacle filled with sick moves, hot beats and fierce competition. At Los Globos (upstairs), 3040 Sunset Blvd. Silver Lake. 21+. $5 before 11 p.m.; $10 after. More info. 
Friday, Jan. 15
IT’S THE PITS!
Transforming the La Brea Tar Pits into a mutifaceted salon, this event invites artists, musicians and filmmakers to stage pop-up installations both creative and science-skewed. Cinefamily Lost & Found Film Club screen rare 16mm science films, Tom Carroll of the web series “Tom Explores Los Angeles” does an offbeat tour of the grounds, Jasmine Albuquerque offers a dance piece in the central atrium, Jherek Bischoff performs with a string quartet, and Ghosting.tv curates video and animation. Sounds provided by dublab DJs throughout the “tar-ty” party, plus cocktails among the fossils and food trucks. If this one-off “sticks,” we could see it becoming a regular thing, especially in warmer months. 7-10 p.m. At the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum, 5801 Wilshire Blvd., Miracle Mile. ONE EIGHT HUNDRED
 College-aged fans of dance music and club culture will dig this “Over 19” showcase and shindig dedicated to innovative artists and classic club idols. Dallas to L.A. transplant Lil Texas (a member of the M|O|D crew and Donky Pitch Records family) has made a name for himself with raucous trap, bass, rap and R&B mixes and remixes, and his live sets leave few wanting to chill. Co-headliner Ana Sia brings her potent dubstep deck-work to the party, too, and it all gets warmed up with the anthemic sounds of DJ Swisha and Alfred English, plus openers Wallace, Statues and Leemz. A millennial mash-up of epic proportions, this one's an opp to see what the kids are gettin' lit to these days. 9 p.m.- 2 a.m. At Los Globos, 3040 Sunset Blvd., Silver Lake. 19+. $10. More info.

ENDLESS NIGHT'S VAMPIRE WORLD SALON
Here's an auspicious affair to sink your teeth into, co-presented by Bar Sinister. Father Sebastian, Kent Kaliber and Victor Magnus host this night for vamps and gorgeous goth-tramps wherein the club’s main stage outdoors is transformed into a vampire salon, with Sebastian on the stage molding and creating custom fangs for patrons. A costume contest for sharpest looks and bloodiest babes will take place at midnight (prize: two VIP tickets for “Endless Night: New Orleans Vampire Ball 2016”). Inside, vendors hawk wicked wares, DJs spin dark wave, industrial and goth, and “purgatory pleasures” and performances take place upstairs. Gothic-Gaultier–chic, alternative/upscale black, fab fetish or futuristic attire requested. 10 p.m.- 2 a.m. At Boardner’s, 1652 N.
