For more than 50 years, the family-owned Sorrento Italian Market has brought a taste of its creator's native Italy to the Culver City area. The old-fashioned Sorrento's has the solution to any craving for Italian, no matter your budget. If you're down for DIY, take home some 100 percent Sicilian blood orange juice, a vat of olives, a can of marinara sauce and a bottle of wine (it has options from every region of Italy) and some of the store's homemade pasta or pizza dough. If you're looking for a quick lunch, try an enormous $5 large sub or a fresh Caprese salad — but don't forget to end it with a delicious $3 cannoli. Although about 75 percent of the store's goods (and 90 percent of the wines) have been imported from Italy, they're still admirably affordable. Bonus: Kids get free cookies at the deli counter. And after half a century on Sepulveda Boulevard, some of the store's customers are grandparents who once ate free cookies, taking their grandchildren to Sorrento's for the same pleasure.
