Remember when women had curves? Us neither. But Burbank’s Unique Vintage will remind us. This little one-stop dress shop is a throwback to the Louise Brooks ’20s, Bettie Page ’50s, Mad Men ’60s, all those great fashion decades before the invention of the skinny jean and the Ugg boot and the consequent decline of civilization. Mall stores just don’t sell shimmery flapper shifts, or Vampira wiggle dresses, or tea-length Jackie O. wedding gowns, or Jean Harlow cocktail dresses, or sailor-collar retro swimsuits. At least not in Unique Vintage’s huge range of sizes — from teensy size 0 to voluptuous 24. This place carries the most desired brands of the pinup-style scene — Stop Staring, Heartbreaker Fashion, Collectif — most of which are otherwise available only online, where exact fit can be a concern. Step into their chandeliered, curtained dressing room to unleash your inner sexy secretary. Shame to let those hips go to waste. 2013 W. Magnolia Blvd., Burbank.
