Those cloudy crescents your freezer spits out? Please. Priced somewhere between Häagen-Dazs and cocaine, Névé ice cubes have been all the rage at finer bars around town in recent years and are available for retail at four wine shops locally. Made from pure water, frozen for at least 48 hours and said to resist melting much longer than normal ice, these “elegant cube designs” make a sumptuous “clack” when jostled in your glass. At up to $20 for a 10-pound bag, the ice may cost more than the booze you pour onto it, but who cares? The clacking sound is worth it. Plop one in a short glass, add libation. Stare at the cube — it’s not going anywhere. Drink; then ask yourself, “Why didn’t I think of this?” Available at Wally’s, 2107 Westwood Blvd., Wstwd., (310) 475-0606; K&L Hollywood, 1400 Vine St., Hlywd., (323) 464-WINE (9463); Bar Keeper, 3910 W. Sunset Blvd., Silver Lake, (323) 669-1675; Le Petite Vendome of Pasadena (starting in November), 906 Granite Dr., Pasadena, (626) 396-9234.
