A staple of South Central Los Angeles shopping for nearly 30 years, Slauson Super Mall started as nine or 10 small kiosks in a strip mall with a giant parking lot. Today, it occupies a massive warehouse with more than 100 stalls. From socks to quinceañera dresses, Jordans to custom grills, used video games and cellphones, Slauson Super Mall has something you need, and it has it for incredibly cheap. The vibe is electric and haggling is necessary. Most of the jewelers and clothiers take custom orders, and many do repairs for only a few bucks. The prices aren't the only draw: There are several restaurants —people rave about the Spanish one — and a whole calendar of community events and contests.
