You might think crêpes are spongy, sweetly wholesome alternate-universe pancakes. But after witnessing La Petite Crêperie's attention to detail and loyalty to the preparation, you will change your mind. What's more, the lemonade isn't sweet — it tastes like lemon instead of Yellow No. 5 — the espresso is exemplary enough that by default it becomes that legendary drink “expresso,” and the laguiole steak knives, which look like switchblades, add touches of French bravado. This is French cuisine, and naturally, it takes a while to prepare properly. This means you sit and talk and enjoy life while waiting to eat. It is nice to see a chef care about the food and the experience surrounding it. 3809 Grand View Blvd., Mar Vista. (310) 437-0226. –David Cotner
