Sometimes we build an entire outfit around a new pair of shoes, and in the same vein, occasionally we end up pairing a meal with a beverage, instead of the other way around. If that six-pack of microbrew is burning a hole in your fridge, consider carrying it down to The Fix Burger in Silver Lake, a BYOB joint that specializes in all-natural, humanely raised meats, as well as some exotics. (They're currently out of ostrich, but are taking votes on whether to add wild boar or venison to the menu.)

In addition to their special burgers, the star of which is the Seoul Burger (featuring Korean slaw), the Fix allows you to build your own, choosing from such toppings as imported cheeses, chili, grilled pineapple and an array of spiced-up sauces. Our favorite is the all-beef hot dog ($3.99) with melted cheddar cheese, and a side of coleslaw, half of which we slather on the dog. As for sides at the Fix, garlic fries would not be a mistake. No brew in the fridge? Saunter down the block to Bogie's Liquors while your order cooks.

The Fix Burger: 2520 Hyperion Ave., Silver Lake. (323) 661-8494, thefixburger.com.
