Containing the detritus of the modern and not-so-modern world, downtown's Olde Good Things is like the Phantom of the Opera's living room. Salvaging stuff from old buildings that are about to be demolished is the company's specialty. So here you will find all manner of large, exquisite, dusty or just plain weird decor items: a pair of stone panthers, school desks, building elements like solid wood balusters and plaster corbels and door pediments, rustic farm tables, church pews, industrial ceiling lights, Arts & Crafts porch lanterns, rickety auditorium seats, iron gates — even dental cabinets. Olde Good Things has everything, including the kitchen sink (six of them at last check, $200 to $650 each). Need a forklift to bring it all home? It has one of those, too. 1800 S. Grand Ave., dwntwn. (213) 746-8600, ogtstore.com.
