Joseph Gordon-Levitt has gone from boy alien on TV's Third Rock From the Sun to leading man in such hit movies as (500) Days of Summer and the blockbuster Inception. After years of helping big-name directors realize their vision, Gordon-Levitt is getting an online community of 50,000 Average Joes to do the same. In 2005, he created hitRECord.org, where artists upload mostly short films and music that are in turn remixed by other users, some featuring the actor's late brother and hitRECord co-founder, Dan. Gordon-Levitt recently released the CD/DVD anthology RECollection: Volume 1, which includes one of the website's most popular shorts, the supercute Morgan and Destiny's Eleventeeth Date, screened at this year's SXSW and starring fellow actor Channing Tatum. The website's book series “Tiny Stories” also landed a publishing deal with HarperCollins. After similar live shows in other cities that have included celeb pals Anne Hathaway and Anna Kendrick popping in, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the hitRECord Fall Formal will feature screenings, performances, audience participation and more surprise guests. The Orpheum, 842 S. Broadway, dwntwn.; Mon., Oct. 10, 7:30 p.m.; $22.50-$62. (877) 677-4386.
