The premiere LGBT pop culture convention, Bent-Con, returns to Burbank this weekend for three days of art, entertainment and education. Play some games, or check out how-to panels on subjects like puppetry and writing genre fiction. Hit up the artist reception and check out the convention’s gallery, featuring Clive Barker’s “Imaginer” exhibition and a juried group show, or make new friends at the women’s happy hour. Stay late and you might be able to catch a special screening of Plan 9 from Outer Space, or impress your pals at the karaoke pajama party. Also on the bill: live drawing workshops, film screenings, game demos and panels with titles like “Wonder Woman: The Kink in the Golden Lasso” and “Ghoul, Please! A Celebration of Horror Hags and the Homos Who Love Them.” Mixed with the fun talks are poignant discussions on bullying, media representation and how to get work in entertainment. This year’s featured guests include Anne Rice and Christopher Rice, TV writer Jane Espenson (Once Upon a Time), comics creator Wendy Pini (Elf Quest) and many more.
