20-Year-Old Man Dead after Pedestrian Collision on East Speedway Boulevard

TUCSON, AZ (January 22, 2022) – Early Saturday morning, 20-year-old Benjamin Wolfe Davis died in a crash on Mountain Avenue.

Around 1:43 a.m., officers responded to the scene at the intersection of North Mountain Avenue and East Speedway Boulevard.

Police say Davis attempted to cross near a marked crosswalk on Speedway Boulevard. There, the driver of a westbound gray 2016 Kia Optima struck him.

Due to the impact of the collision, Davis suffered life-threatening injuries. First responders arrived and transported him to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Moreover, the KIA was found unoccupied in a nearby parking lot which was later identified as stolen. Authorities later arrested 33-year-old Andy Otero and charged him with felony hit-and-run.

Both directions of the roadway shutdown for an unknown amount of time to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, further details will be provided.
