Just before midnight on January 17, 29-year-old black man Benjamin Jackson was allegedly stabbed in the neck by his common-law wife (they were married, but not officially) after a domestic dispute at their Green Meadows home on the 800 block of East 97th Street. Although there were no eye witnesses and Jackson's “wife” fled from the scene soon after, an LAPD sergeant told City News Service that neighbors heard the couple arguing and called the police.

Jackson was rushed to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he died the next morning from his injuries.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Jackson's girlfriend, a 31-year-old McDonald's worker, was arrested on suspicion of murder on the day of his death, January 17, and brought to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood. She was held in lieu of $1 million.

Note: Due to technical difficulties, the LA Weekly's archive of all homicides within Los Angeles city limits was discontinued near the end of last year. We will be rolling out the 2011 homicides, one by one, until our “Murder was the Case” archive is up to date. Thanks for your patience.
