Hundreds of Bell residents assembled outside the home of the city's mayor and the homes of three other council members over the weekend to urge them to resign following revelations that the part-timers were pulling six figure salaries and had apparently hired a city manager at $800,000 a year.

Demonstrators were reportedly going to hit the streets again today. At the same time Attorney General Jerry Brown late Sunday stated he would make noontime announcement Monday “to disclose new developments in his probe of excessive salaries in the City of Bell.” His announcement was scheduled to take place at the A.G's L.A. office downtown.

The city manager, Robert Rizzo, resigned last week, along with Bell's chief of police and the city's assistant city manager, who earned a whopping $457,000 and $376,288 respectively — more than the governor of California's approved salary.

The Bell Association to Stop the Abuse wants Mayor Oscar Hernandez and council members Luis Artiga, Teresa Jacobo and George Mirabal to resign or reduce their $100,000 a year salaries by 90 percent.

Another council member, Lorenzo Velez, is off the hook: He's earning about $310 every two weeks.
