Next week, August 31st, there will be a beer pairing dinner and Beer 101 class at Library Alehouse with Hallie Beaune and Christina Perozzi. Beaune and Perozzi are beer sommeliers and authors, perhaps best known as The Beer Chicks. The 7-course dining event, which will take place in the back garden patio, will benefit breast cancer research through the organization What a Pair.

This will be Beaune and Perozzi's first beer pairing at Library Alehouse, after previous incarnations at Rustic Canyon in Santa Monica. “Rustic Canyon is more high-end,” said Perozzi. “This is the more casual beer pairing.”

As for the Beer 101 lesson, Perozzi added that “we're trying to be as hands-on as possible without it seeming like school. It's not going to be as structured as our usual classes, but we'll be kind of giving a mini-101. Sort of like a sommelier for each course, and giving hand-outs if people are interested.”

The dinner will include smaller plates to go along with each beer, but as Library Alehouse Cicerone Tom Kelley told us, “I don't think anyone is going home hungry.” Beers will include Mama's Little Yella Pilsner, Bruery Tradewinds IPA, Chimay Blue, and more. Food will include heirloom tomato salad, fish tacos with mango salsa, and beef carbonnade with French fries.

There will be one seating from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m, on Tuesday, August 31st.
