Documentary photographer Barbara Beirne chronicles the immigrant experience among nearly 60 teenagers who call America their adopted home. To find her teens, Beirne traveled across 12 states and photographed her subjects from the classroom to the football field. Beirne also pairs the images with the teenagers' own words: “The strongest connection I have with China, my native land, is through my parents,” says 18-year-old Lili Shek. “I have seen the pain of leaving their beloved land upon which their memories are deeply rooted…But I have also been witness to the joys of accomplishment, not only for myself, but for my family as well.”

Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Oct. 17. Continues through Jan. 25, 2008
